WHAT I DO AS AN AMAZON COACH:
I’m a full-time, award-winning, certified, executive career coach who works with leaders at Amazon, as well as with other organizations ranging from start-ups to the Fortune 10.
With respect to Amazon, my current and past clients are global L7 and L8 leaders responsible for engineering, product management, operations, transportation, advertising, finance, sales, professional services, and marketing functions within Amazon and AWS.
I work with my clients using a variety of coaching tools, including but not limited to:
- Defining and executing detailed 30/60/90-day professional development plans,
- Repairing and building relationships,
- Uncovering areas of opportunity and strengthening them by identifying and addressing the root causes,
- Demonstrating the Amazon Leadership Principles more deeply and consistently and without misapplying them,
- Building confidence and capability, to overcome pockets of self-doubt, second guessing, and imposter syndrome,
- Increasing influence and strengthening professional relationships,
- Identifying their growth opportunities utilizing my specialized 360 evaluation process, where I interview peers, team members, and leaders ranging from L5 to L10 to uncover themes and patterns to further inform their professional growth plans,
- Teaching frameworks, tools, and strategies to improve and become more effective as
- a leader,
- a leader of leaders,
- an influencer,
- a peer,
- a team member and
- a contributor.
MY COACHING APPROACH:
I combine my 14+ years of building a SaaS start-up company, my 8+ years of management consulting, and my life coaching experience and certifications to tailor my coaching approach to each of my clients’ individual goals and growth areas.
I myself invest in a coach. I always have my own coach, so I know what it’s like from both the client and the coach’s perspectives.
I’m known as a coach who challenges my clients to think differently and to uncover their blind spots, so they achieve both their short-term objectives alongside larger personal and professional transformation.
I am a neutral sounding board and someone who wholeheartedly believes in my client’s goals (often before they do).
I go all-in with and for my clients.
At times I can be direct and challenging.
At other times, I infuse humor.
My goal is always for my clients to get the results they’re seeking, and to that end, I adjust and iterate by leveraging my corporate experience and coaching toolbox.
WHY I CHOOSE TO BE A FULL-TIME COACH:
In my years as a software exec, I had all the titles, awards, and responsibilities.
Then a new CEO took over the SaaS company I helped build and I slowly felt marginalized and ineffective. Eventually, I chose to take a step back.
Truth be told, I should have resigned 3 years sooner. I didn’t because I let fear hold me back. I was scared of
- failing in a new, unknown organization,
- starting over, and
- being “found out” that I didn’t deserve the title.
Looking back now I can see how incredibly fortunate I was to have that experience, which led to the career I have now.
I want others to be to achieve EVERYTHING THEY WANT IN THEIR CAREERS TOO, without holding themselves back due to fear & self-doubt.
Mentoring and coaching were the highlights of my corporate career. And, it’s been one of my strengths and keys to success, even before I had the official “coach” title.
Through my work as a coach, I’m able to focus on doing what I love most and to help my clients execute at their highest levels as well.
